REVERSE ENGINEERING
At TAP Engineering, we’re experts at figuring out how things work and how they were made. A typical reverse engineering (RE) job may involve refreshing the design of an obsolete, legacy electronics system where physical hardware is available, but design documentation is not. TAP leverages a mix of non-destructive and destructive techniques to tear down, document, and re-create design information. For mechanical components this may include dimensional scanning and material composition analysis. For circuits, our engineers use a variety of tools and techniques to analyze and recreate designs, including non-destructive imaging, destructive delayering/imaging, IDA Pro, OllyDBG, bus analyzers, microscopes, and in some cases, custom scripts (i.e. Python, etc).
